Protection against electric shock
Modern RCBOs detect residual-current faults and disconnect the affected circuit, helping reduce the risk of serious electric shock.
Installed with care by NICEIC-approved electricians. Modern RCBO protection, surge protection, relevant testing and certification.
*Subject to an assessment of the existing installation. Additional remedial work, if required, is quoted separately.
ACCREDITATIONS
Recognised standards. Professional installation and certification.
WHY UPGRADE YOUR FUSE BOX?
An older fuse box may still supply power, but it may not provide the protection available in a modern consumer unit. The right upgrade improves how electrical faults are detected and disconnected — helping protect your family, wiring and electrical equipment.
Modern RCBOs detect residual-current faults and disconnect the affected circuit, helping reduce the risk of serious electric shock.
Each RCBO also protects against overloads and short circuits. A fault on one circuit is less likely to leave other parts of your home without power.
A surge protection device (SPD) helps limit sudden voltage surges that could damage connected appliances and electronic equipment.
We assess the suitability of existing circuits and essential earthing and bonding, then test the finished installation before issuing the certificate.
Important: A new consumer unit improves electrical protection; it does not fix damaged wiring or prevent every fault. Any defects or remedial work identified are discussed and quoted separately. Age alone does not automatically mean a fuse box must be replaced.
A CLEAN, PROFESSIONAL UPGRADE
We make replacing your consumer unit straightforward: explain the work, plan the power interruption, install appropriate protection and carry out the required verification before issuing certification.
*Advertised from-price applies to eligible straightforward consumer unit replacements with up to ten circuits. Final scope and price are confirmed following assessment. Two spare ways refer to available positions, not additional RCBO devices. Future circuits require separate design and assessment.
“arranged promptly and carried out quickly”
“his work was neat and organised”
“He arrived exactly when agreed”
A clear starting price for an eligible straightforward replacement. Your quotation confirms the actual equipment, tests and any remedial work needed.
Metal consumer unit, individual RCBO protection, SPD, relevant inspection and testing, labelling and an Electrical Installation Certificate.
At least two spare physical ways in the new board, subject to board selection. Spare breakers and future circuits are not included.
Existing wiring faults, earthing/bonding upgrades and other necessary remedials are assessed and quoted separately before extra work.
SIMPLE FROM THE FIRST MESSAGE
No need to know every technical detail. We will explain what is involved and what we need to provide a quote.
Send your postcode, property type and a photo of your current fuse box.
We confirm what is included and whether a site assessment is necessary.
We agree a suitable date and explain the anticipated power interruption.
We inspect and test the relevant installation and provide the appropriate EIC.
WHY HOMEOWNERS CHOOSE A1
We understand that your home is not a building site. We plan the interruption, explain the testing and take care over the finished installation.
QUICKER QUOTATIONS
Send us a clear photograph of your existing board and your postcode. We can review the likely scope, advise what else we need to know and let you know if a site visit is necessary.
Example: show the full fuse box in your photoANSWERS BEFORE YOU BOOK
Not necessarily. The existing circuits must be assessed and suitable for reconnection. Any faults or remedial work identified during inspection or testing are discussed separately.
Yes, the installation needs to be safely isolated during parts of the work. We will explain the planned interruption before the visit, including what you may need to prepare.
The indicative package is for an eligible straightforward replacement up to ten circuits and includes a metal consumer unit, individual RCBO protection, surge protection, relevant testing and an Electrical Installation Certificate. Additional works, if needed, are quoted separately.
Two spare ways allow physical room for possible future circuit protection. Any EV charger, heat pump or other new circuit needs a separate design, load and supply-capacity assessment and appropriate protective devices.
We will try to arrange a convenient appointment, including for customers working from home, subject to availability and what the job requires.
Not necessarily. Repeated tripping can be caused by a fault elsewhere in the installation or connected equipment. We can investigate and explain the appropriate remedial options; replacement is not automatically the solution.
Age alone does not determine whether replacement is required. The condition of the equipment, protection provided and the intended use of the installation need to be assessed.
Share a few details and, if possible, a photo of your existing fuse box. We’ll review your enquiry and get back to you personally.
